What is a discovered attack?
A discovered attack happens when moving one piece unmasks an attack from another piece standing behind it. The moving piece is free to create a second threat, so the defender faces two problems from a single move.
How to spot it
Find your own batteries first: any pawn or piece standing on a line between your long-range piece and an enemy target can trigger a discovery. The stronger the moving piece’s own threat, the deadlier the combination.
What this set trains
These puzzles train double-threat thinking — evaluating what a move does and what it reveals at the same time.
