What is a attraction?
Attraction sacrifices force an enemy piece — usually the king — onto a square where it becomes vulnerable to the follow-up: a fork, a discovered attack or a mating net.
How to spot it
Count the tactical blows that would work if the enemy king or queen stood one square closer. If a check or capture can drag it there, the sacrifice usually pays for itself immediately.
What this set trains
These puzzles develop the courage and calculation to give up material for one forced, concrete payoff — the heart of combinational play.
